Bordeaux-Merignac Airport

At 16:50 last Friday the first
Boeing 777-200 from Air Austral touched down on the tarmac at Bordeaux… before taking to the skies again, headed for Saint-Denis on the island of La Réunion.

The international departure hall was transformed into a mini-festival to mark the occasion of this maiden flight: the 200+ passengers booked onto the flight enjoyed a buffet of Réunionnais delicacies, as well as a concert showcasing the traditional Sega and Maloya musical styles.

This flight was the first of a new regular long-haul service, with twice-weekly departures allowing
passengers to travel directly from Bordeaux to the Indian Ocean without changing in Paris.
