The partnership between Bordeaux Airport and the charity Secours Populaire bore its first fruit today, with a first round of families jetting off on holiday.
Bordeaux Airport formed a new partnership with Secours Populaire earlier this year, to celebrate the terminal’s first birthday. As part of the ‘Holidays for All’ campaign, the 1st round of families set off on their holidays today: with kids ranging from ages 3 to 17, Anaëlle, Théo, Gwendoline and more set off from billi at 17:35 today for a holiday in Madrid with their parents. On the programme: a trip to Faunia natural theme park, a boat ride in Buen Retiro Park, a visit to the Royal Palace, a tour of Real Madrid’s famous Bernabéu stadium, an afternoon in the planetarium… a programme specially designed for the families, and similar to the plans we have in store for the second round of families who will soon be heading off to Barcelona.
This June, during the celebrations held to mark Bordeaux’s ‘River Festival’, the Airport and Secours Populaire joined forces to launch a public appeal, raising funds for a shared cause: giving families the chance to take their kids on holiday.
This campaign is part of Secours Populaire’s nationwide ‘Holidays for All’ scheme, with the priority here being to give local families the chance to get away.
For Bordeaux Airport, the 1st birthday of our new billi terminal was the perfect opportunity to launch a new community-spirited project, like 2010’s Cow Parade organised
in aid of the Banque Alimentaire food charity.
Representatives of Secours Populaire and the Airport were on hand to greet the families as they boarded the plane, and salute the generosity of all those whose donations made it possible for these children and their parents to enjoy a holiday together.
