Coming soon Agadir means "corn loft" in the Berber language and is the second largest city in the Kingdom of Morocco. After the 1960 earthquake that devastated the city, Agadir was rebuilt and transformed into a vibrant, modern city with wide boulevards and thriving trade. Today, Agadir is a commercial port centred predominantly on fishing, and is a constantly-growing international hub. Its 10 kilometres of stunning beaches and entirely restored sea front form one of the finest promenades in the Arab world.
Agadir is a unique city offering countless attractions. A host of leisure activities such as golf, tennis, diving and sailing are available here and the waves at Taghazout have gained a global reputation in the surfing world. Yet despite its modern status, Agadir has not lost sight of its roots. Built in 1540, the ancient Kasbah overlooks the modern city, offering a magnificent view of both the city and the port, while the traditional covered fish market and bustling central market allow you to immerse yourself in authentic Moroccan aromas and flavours. At the foot of the Atlas Mountains, Agadir is perfectly situated as a gateway to the picturesque city of Taroudant, known as the "Grandmother of Marrakech", Tiznit, with its fortified city walls, and the charming mountainous village of Tafraoute.
