A scheduled flight to Athens with Aegean, inaugurated this morning at the airport: a first in Bordeaux.

Aegean officially launched its new Bordeaux-Athens route on Wednesday 10 June, with 2 flights a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 31 October. The plane from Athens set down on the tarmac in Bordeaux at 10.45am and was greeted by the Press and the largest travel agencies in the region. It took off again to Athens 45 minutes later with 130 passengers from Bordeaux aboard. This summer, the airline is also offering 2 weekly flights to Heraklion in Crete on Mondays and Thursdays.

It is the first time Bordeaux Airport has had a scheduled connection to the Greek capital city. It will be the opportunity for Aquitaine residents to discover one of the most iconic destinations, a favourite of the French for their holidays.

The schedule for this new flight is as follows:

The timetable offered by the airline provides short connections to 33 domestic destinations such as Thessalonica in the north of Greece, the Kos islands, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Cyprus. The flights also connect to the major cities of the Middle East such as Tel Aviv, Cairo and Beirut.

Tickets are on sale at and through travel agents.

About Aegean Airlines
Aegean Airlines is the largest airline in Greece. Since its creation in 1999, it has offered a comprehensive range of high-quality short and medium-haul flights. The acquisition of Olympic Air on 23 October 2013 enabled Aegean to increase flight and connection frequency, thus improving access to the Greek islands, including those furthest away, for both tourists and Greeks. In 2013, Aegean transported 6.8 million passengers; total traffic for both airlines was 8.8 million passengers.
Aegean is increasing its international presence and supporting tourism to Athens and in regional Greek airports. With 13 million seats available in 2014, the airline operates from 8 airport bases, linking Greece to 87 international destinations in 32 countries and serving 33 domestic airports. The route network operated by Aegean and Olympic Air together exceeded 256 routes in 2014, including 205 international and 51 domestic routes.
In 2014 Aegean received the Skytrax World Airline Award, presented to the best regional airline in Europe, for the 5th time (it also won the accolade in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013).
