Bordeaux, France, 28th of October- Wizz Air and Bordeaux Mérignac Airport are excited to announce three new routes connecting Bordeaux to key European destinations. The airline will offer direct flights between Bordeaux and Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport two times a week, along with two weekly flights from and to Rome Fiumicino Airport and Venice Marco Polo Airport. These additions strengthen Wizz Air's commitment to expanding its operations in France, providing travellers with more affordable and convenient travel options. The first new route between Bordeaux and Rome Fiumicino, Italy has been official launched today, offering 3 flights per week. Rome, the capital of Italy, is a city rich in history, culture, and architectural wonders. Known as the "Eternal City," it was once the heart of the Roman Empire and still showcases iconic landmarks like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon.
In addition, Wizz Air is introducing a direct connection from Bordeaux to Bucharest Otopeni, Romania, with 2 flights per week set to begin on 29th October 2025. Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is a dynamic city that blends historical charm with modern energy. Often called “Little Paris” for its elegant architecture and vibrant cultural scene, the city features landmarks like the Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest buildings in the world. Bucharest offers a mix of museums, parks, and lively nightlife, making it a fascinating destination for visitors.
Wizz Air is introducing a direct connection from Bordeaux to Venice, Italy launching on 2nd of December 2025, offering 3 flights per week. Venice is a unique and enchanting city in northeastern Italy, built on a network of canals and more than 100 small islands. Famous for its romantic gondola rides, stunning architecture, and rich history, Venice offers iconic sights like St. Mark’s Basilica, the Grand Canal, and the Rialto Bridge.
These new routes are part of Wizz Air’s continued growth in France, where the airline is expanding its network to meet growing demand. Since the beginning of operations in the country in 2004, the airline carried more than 22 mln passengers.

Wizz Air operates one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the industry. The airline operating one of the youngest fleets worldwide with more than 70% ultra-efficient Airbus A321neo aircraft with an average age of 4.5 years, integrating various technologies delivering additional fuel savings. With a target to reduce carbon intensity by 25% by 2030 and an aspiration to power 10% of its flights with SAF by the same year, Wizz Air’s long-term strategy is anchored in flights (30% emissions reductions from new aircraft technology and fleet renewal), fuel (53% emissions reductions from SAF) and footprint (4% emissions reductions from air traffic management modernisation). During financial year 2025, Wizz Air emissions intensity was 52.2 grams of CO2 per passenger per kilometer.
