Lufthansa Group continues to grow in Bordeaux
Following the opening of the new Bordeaux-Frankfurt route last spring, Lufthansa Group continues its development strategy in Bordeaux to meet increasing demand. From summer 2018, Lufthansa will strengthen its presence in Bordeaux with 17 new flights within the Lufthansa and SWISS airlines’ flight schedules: Bordeaux-Frankfurt and Bordeaux-Zurich. Bordeaux will thus benefit from hundreds of additional connections thanks to new links with two major European hubs.
5 new Lufthansa flights on the Bordeaux-Frankfurt route
As of next summer, Lufthansa will offer passengers travelling between Bordeaux and Frankfurt five additional flights per week, meaning there are now a total of 7 flights scheduled on this route. As a result, passengers can now depart from Bordeaux daily and get to Frankfurt within two hours on a flight which leaves at 18:45 (arriving in Frankfurt at 20:35). The return flight will take place on the same scheduled days, departing from Frankfurt at 16:20 (arriving in Bordeaux at 18:05). The Lufthansa-operated flights use an Airbus A319 aircraft. The cost of the Bordeaux-Frankfurt flight starts at €119 including VAT for a roundtrip.
SWISS opens a new Bordeaux-Zurich route with 12 flights
The Lufthansa Group are also setting up a new Bordeaux-Zurich route operated by Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS). From 26 March 2018, SWISS will offer 12 weekly flights, enabling the residents of Bordeaux to reach Zurich in 1 hour 40 minutes. Departures from Bordeaux are scheduled from Monday to Saturday at 9:45 (arriving in Zurich at 11:25), or from Monday to Friday and Sunday at 19:40 (arriving in Zurich at 21:20). Flights departing from Zurich are scheduled from Monday to Saturday departing at 7:25 (arriving in Bordeaux at 9:05), or from Monday to Friday and Sunday at 17:20 (arriving in Bordeaux at 19:00). The cost of the Bordeaux-Zurich flight starts at €99 including VAT for a roundtrip. The main hub for SWISS airlines, Zurich is the at the heart of Swiss economic activity and benefits from a prime location in the centre of Europe. As well as being a leading European financial centre and home to a number of innovative businesses, Zurich is also a popular tourist destination.
Lufthansa Group strengthens its regional network in France
With 17 new flights to add to its summer 2018 flight schedule, Lufthansa Group continues with its aim to establish a closer relationship with its customers throughout France. The Group intends to significantly increase its presence, predominantly within the regions that are home to the country’s 13 main airports where two thirds of French flights operate from.

Following the announcement of this development, Pascal Personne, President of Bordeaux Airport’s Board of Directors described the strategy as being very beneficial for the economy of the South West region: ‘‘The strengthening of the Frankfurt service and the launch of the new link to Zurich with multiple flights is a real godsend for Bordeaux and its region, especially at a time when the city is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists and trying to establish itself not only within the Asian and North American markets, but also everywhere in Europe. Not only will more German and Swiss travellers be able to come to Bordeaux, but these two intercontinental ‘hubs’ will enable us to also improve the mobility of the region’s businesses which often export a great deal to these intercontinental markets.’’
