In response to strong demand for new routes from Bordeaux, Lufthansa Group has announced the launch of a Bordeaux-Zurich link

The 2018 summer schedule will include an additional 17 weekly rotations, bringing the total number of flights to 24 per week.

Rising demand in the Bordeaux region
After the opening of the Bordeaux-Frankfurt route last spring, Lufthansa Group continues to strengthen its presence in France with the launch of a new Bordeaux-Zurich regional link, which will be operated by Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS). The new route will launch with 12 weekly flights.
We are thrilled with the opening of the Bordeaux-Zurich link, which provides people of the Bordeaux area with easier access to two of our major European hubs and, as such, to Lufthansa Group’s worldwide network of 288 destinations in 106 different countries”, said Stefen Kreuzpainter, Lufthansa Group’s Vice Chairman of EMEA Sales.

We are delighted to see as important an airline group as Lufthansa pursuing its growth in Bordeaux. With the Frankfurt link launched in 2017 and Zurich this year, but also the Brussels link introduced by Brussels Airlines in 2015, Bordeaux residents are gaining access to the entire world via the hundreds of connections offered by these major hubs. Our region will benefit significantly from the economic impacts of this new gateway” comments Pascal Personne, Chairman of the Bordeaux Airport Management Board.

Business and leisure destinations
The appeal of Bordeaux and its region lies not only in their dynamic economy, but also in the local way of life. The opening of a new link between Bordeaux and Zurich, Switzerland’s economic and financial centre, satisfies the needs of business travellers and puts tourists within easy reach of all that Bordeaux and its region have to offer, including architecture, culture, and wine.
From next summer, Lufthansa will strengthen its Bordeaux-Frankfurt offer with 5 additional flights per week, bringing the total number of weekly rotations to 7.

We are proud of the success of the Bordeaux-Frankfurt link and the launch of the new Bordeaux-Zurich route which will reinforce our economic relations with Germany and Switzerland, and provide tourists and business travellers with easy access to the Bordeaux region. With the development of our regional network in France, we aim to fortify our presence in these regions, which account for 61% of the flights that we operate from a total of 13 French airports” says Michael Gloor, Lufthansa Group’s Senior Director of France-Benelux Sales.

From 26 March, Bordeaux residents can reach Zurich in less than 2 hours

The new link will be operated by SWISS with 12 weekly flights. Passengers flying from Bordeaux will reach Zurich in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The Bombardier CS100 aircraft used on this route will carry up to 125 passengers per flight.
Seats for the Bordeaux-Zurich flight will start at €85 for a one-way trip.

The first SWISS flight from Zurich will arrive on the Bordeaux tarmac on 26 March at 09:05. The first plane to leave Bordeaux Airport for the new destination in northern Switzerland will take off at 09:45.
