As part of Mobility Day held on the airport site, Bordeaux Airport signed the “7 Commitments for Sa-fer Roads” charter, reinforcing its engagement with employees in favour of more responsible mobili-ty.

As a site of heavy traffic for staff, service providers and passengers alike, the airport is committed to strengthening its road safety prevention policy. To demonstrate to its employees and customers its commitment to tackling road dangers alongside the Road Safety Delegation, Bordeaux Airport has now joined the Employer Charter for Safer Roads, and undertakes to:

•           Tackle mobile phone use while driving,

•           Promote sobriety at the wheel,

•           Require the wearing of seatbelts,

•           Reject any tolerance for exceeding speed limits,

•           Factor in rest periods when planning travel times,

•           Train staff in responsible driving,

•           Encourage motorcyclists and cyclists to be better equipped.

Bruno NAVARO, Director of Operations at Bordeaux Airport, declared:

“The airport is a mobility hub, and we have a duty to set an example. It’s a place of constant movement, for airport teams as well as passengers. It is our responsibility to be fully-fledged actors in road safety.”

A shared safety culture

This signing was part of a day devoted to responsible mobility, during which employees, partners and users were able to discover and try out a wide range of innovative and sustainable mobility solutions: cycling simulators, virtual reality experiences, a rollover car demonstration, road safety awareness activities, and trials of soft mobility options.

These concrete initiatives are helping to shape behaviours and foster a shared culture of safety, both on and around the airport platform.
