The Los Angeles Times has named Bordeaux as best destination in the world to visit this year

In 2017, one of the major U.S west coast daily paper ranked Bordeaux first, in its annual list of places to visit. The paper based its decision on the 350 or so Historic Monuments here (such as the Port de la Lune which is listed as UNESCO world heritage) as well as the local gastronomy celebrated by tourists. Also weighing in the balance was the opening in June 2016 of La Cité du Vin, an immersive venue for discovering the cultures of wine.

This is not the first time Bordeaux benefits from worldwide recognition. The City was voted “Best destination 2015” following a period of three weeks of online voting for the best tourist destination. In 2016 the New York Times ranked it second after Mexico among the best travel places to visit in the world. More recently, Lonely Planet named Bordeaux as the most attractive city in the world for 2017. More than 1,000 media mentions across the world were recorded within less than 24 hours following the announcement.

Bordeaux has all the advantages of a capital without the inconveniences. It is a fashionable city with a wealth of culture and history, its location is another strong point, since it is situated near the Arcachon Bay, the Dordogne and the Basque Country, situated also within close and easy reach from Spain, along Atlantic Ocean and close from Pyrenees Moutaines.
