A Transformed Terminal for an Optimised Passenger Experience

As part of its ongoing strategy to enhance the passenger experience and adapt its infrastructure, Bordeaux Airport is undertaking a comprehensive transformation of the Billi terminal, which caters to low-cost airlines. This project includes a 600m² expansion of the departure area, currently under construction.

This new space will allow the airport to better manage passenger reception by enhancing comfort and improving the flow of their journeys, expanding the restrooms, and offering a new catering service, notably through its partnership with Areas France and Le Pain Quotidien. The introduction of this renowned brand aligns with Bordeaux Airport's strategy to develop its services and diversify its offerings, with a strong emphasis on healthy, local, and high-quality food. In a warm and comfortable setting, Le Pain Quotidien fully meets the expectations of passengers departing from or arriving at Bordeaux.

“We are thrilled to introduce a unique experience with Le Pain Quotidien at the heart of the Billi terminal. This new partnership fully aligns with our ambition to offer a delicious, local, and accessible service to all passengers as soon as they arrive at the airport. Building on the success we’ve seen in Paris in recent years, we are proud to be the first to bring Le Pain Quotidien to a regional airport. This opening will also be a first, with an innovative Coffee Shop format designed to meet the needs of our travellers,” explains Hervé Etchenique, Head of Property & Retail Services at Bordeaux Airport.

A Coffee Shop Version of ‘Le Pain Quotidien’ Adapted to the Airport Environment

After successfully testing its kiosk format at Paris Gare de l’Est and table service at Gare Montparnasse, Areas is now introducing an enhanced version of Le Pain Quotidien, tailored to the fast-paced environment of Bordeaux Airport.

Located at the entrance of the terminal in the public area, with 50 indoor seats and 70 on the outdoor terrace, the new outlet will offer a blend of warmth and practicality. The iconic bread counter and the use of natural, often recycled materials will ensure a welcoming and eco-friendly experience.

The new outlet will offer a selection of fresh products, prepared on-site and ready to take away. Passengers will be able to enjoy a variety of organic coffees, complemented by refreshing options such as frappés, iced lattes, and homemade lemonades. The savoury menu will feature tartines and quiches made with seasonal ingredients, including vegetarian options.

“We are proud to have met the expectations of Bordeaux Airport by adapting Le Pain Quotidien’s offering to the coffee shop concept. Through innovation, we are helping to shape the new look of the Billi terminal in Bordeaux,” comments Yves Lacheret, Managing Director of Areas France.

This innovative format, specially designed to meet the needs of airport catering, will open its doors at the end of August at the Billi terminal in Bordeaux.
