Optimising energy use and production

In these times of accelerated climate change, declining resources and rising costs, the Airport is prioritising controlled energy use and the production of renewable power.

Système 400Htz

As the platform operator, SA Aéroport de Bordeaux-Mérignac ensures the production and supply of all energy required for its operation and that of hosted activities.

In this framework, the Airport's energy strategy is based on 3 cornerstones:

  • Sufficiency (modification of heating and cooling setpoints, installation of motion sensors to control lighting, and the roll-out of an energy-saving plan, etc.)
  • Performance (roll-out of light-emitting diodes (LED) for runway markings and car parks, renovation of Airport heating systems, gradual introduction of 400Hz converters in aircraft parking areas, HQE environmental certification for Satellite 3, etc.)
  • Development of renewable energy (100% renewable power supply since 2017, installation of solar panel roofs on car park PO in 2023 and a geothermal project, etc.)
