easyJet launches it 33rd route from Bordeaux to Essaouira

easyJet, Europe's leading airline, is offering a new route between Bordeaux and Essaouira as of today.

The people of Bordeaux will be able to fly off to the fortified port city of Essaouira with 2 flights per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 31st October 2018, from €34*.

33 routes for the 33rd French département?

This new route comes in addition to the 32 destinations already on offer from Bordeaux with easyJet. The opening of easyJet’s base at Bordeaux Airport at the end of March has allowed the company to considerably increase its range of destinations from the city.

With its mild climate, charming Medina, welcoming inhabitants, the unique sound of the ocean crashing against its ramparts and an authentic port on the Atlantic, there is no shortage of reasons for staying in Essaouira. Surfers won’t be disappointed, either, as Essaouira has established itself over the years as an iconic destination for all fans of board sports.

In its desire to propose sunny winter destinations to French travellers, the “orange company” has decided to look to Morocco, an ideal destination to escape the cold and enjoy a milder climate, less than 3 hours’ flight away.

Morocco is much appreciated in France for its proximity, rich culture and affordable prices. It is experiencing a genuine boom with 11.35 million visitors in 2017, including 3.6 million from France (up 6 % on 2016).

EasyJet is the number one European company in terms of network, transporting more than 83 million passengers every year and offering over 1,000 routes between 154 airports in 33 countries.

Reginald Otten, easyJet’s Deputy CEO in France, commented:
After announcing the launch of its 1,000th line in Europe last week with Bordeaux-Manchester, easyJet continues to provide more possibilities to people in Bordeaux for their vacations and weekend breaks. We are pleased to be able to offer them new direct routes to major French and European cities, as well as to sunny destinations which are particularly popular in winter.”

Pascal Personne, Director of Bordeaux Airport added:
This new announcement confirms, to our great delight, the strong development of easyJet at Bordeaux Airport. With 33 direct routes, easyJet is a leading player in travel in our local territory. Essaouira is a magnificent destination which will please the people of Nouvelle Aquitaine in autumn and winter with its mild climate. Its oriental allure is every bit as captivating as its ocean, sculpted at times by magnificent waves which will win over the many passionate surfers of our region.
