In 2014 Bordeaux Airport welcomed nearly 5 million passengers, making it the 5th busiest French regional airport. Thanks to its investments made over the past 5 years, the airport boasts the highest growth rate amongst the main French regional airports in 2014 (+ 7.1%); the number of destinations has risen from 39 to 85 and the number of airlines serving the airport has leapt from 17 to 27. On the international front, Bordeaux Airport stands out by its growth strategy in the low-cost flight sector with the creation of a specific air terminal in 2010 called billi, allowing the airport to double its volume of international traffic to 2.2 million in 2014. It has been so successful that an extension of the billi terminal is already being built and should be operational during the summer of 2015.
