Press Release - Bordeaux, 31 January 2018: Volotea, the airline company for the regional capitals of Europe, which has been based in Bordeaux since 2012, has reported excellent results for 2017 and announces further growth in Bordeaux.

In 2017, Volotea transported 510,200 passengers to and from Bordeaux, a 37% increase compared with 2016. The airline operated 4,200 flights and recorded an occupancy rate of 84% on departures from Bordeaux, where it is the biggest airline in terms of the number of destinations offered.

In 2018, Volotea will operate 29 routes, of which 20 exclusively, and will propose more than 740,000 seats on flights from Bordeaux, a 23% increase compared with 2017. The number of actual flights will be in excess of 5,000. Volotea expects to reach a milestone this year in Bordeaux where it will have carried a total of 2 million passengers since it began operations here in 2012.

The airline is opening 3 new routes from Bordeaux this year:
- Madeira, from 5 April with a weekly flight every Thursday and a total of 6,000 seats
- Minorca, from 30 May with once- or twice-weekly flights (Mondays and Wednesdays or

“2017 has been a great year for Volotea, especially in Bordeaux where we celebrated the airline’s 14 millionth passenger. In 2018 we are extending our offer even further to mark the 5th anniversary of our Bordeaux base in March” announces the airline company’s CEO and Founder, Carlos Muñoz.

Pascal Personne, Chairman of the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport Management Board, states: “Volotea offers such a diversity of original, appealing destinations, particularly in summer, and this is exactly what residents of Nouvelle Aquitaine want. Half a million passengers in 2017 is a considerable acknowledgement not only of Volotea’s dynamic but also of Bordeaux and Nouvelle Aquitaine residents’ adoption of the airline in the last 5 years.”
