Traditional or avant-garde, Valencia offers a wide range of possibilities to its visitors. Both a seaside resort and a city rich in gothic heritage, the 3rd largest city in Spain surprises visitors by its economic dynamism, its diversity and in particular, its modernity. Along with its Mediterranean climate, it offers a surprising and enjoyable compromise between an economic centre and a city of leisure.

Point of reference

A Roman city, then conquered by Muslims, Valencia became part of the Kingdom of Aragon in the Middle Ages. Between 1900 and 2000 its population almost tripled, making the capital of the Valencia community the 3rd largest agglomeration of Spain with over 1.8 million inhabitants. The city has a wealth of architectural heritage and has successfully blended its older districts and gothic monuments with modern infrastructures like the City of Arts and Sciences. Home to the most important port in the country, as well as a centre of agricultural production, Valencia has some major amenities with international scope, such as an airport which can be accessed by metro and motorway and railway links. Finally, Valencia is a Mediterranean city. Its beaches, its vibrant neighbourhoods and its gastronomy are enough to attract a large number of tourists all year round.
